Canada Day 2016

Style Confessions: Canada Day

What will you be wearing on Canada Day?

I don’t really have an outfit picked out for Canada Day, but I think I will definitely be wearing red and white. I have a pair of red shorts that have been sitting in my closet since I bought them, which have been for a couple of months. I just haven’t had the opportunity to wear them in between these thunderstorms and unpredictable torrential rain that we have been getting for the past two weeks. Do I sound annoyed? Must be because I am. So, if the weather decides to co-operate, I will wear these said red shorts and a white sleeveless blouse. Fingers crossed for sunny, dry weather!

Always Be in Style

Style Confessions

Which pieces of clothing will always be in style?

Knowing which pieces of clothing that are always in style is helpful when you are re-building your wardrobe from scratch or updating your wardrobe. The best way to simplify this answer is to give you an idea of the few basics that will never go out of style. Blazers, pencil skirts, sheath dresses, button-down shirts and straight-legged pants will be forever in style. If you have at least a few of these pieces of clothing in each category, your wardrobe will never go out of style. Try to select these pieces in a mix of neutral and bright colours to make putting together outfits easier and more interesting.

Matching Your Belt and Shoes

Style Confessions

Should your belt and shoes match?

No, your belt and shoes don’t necessarily need to match. The same goes for your purse and shoes – they don’t need to match. I think it’s more important for your entire outfit to colour co-ordinate. For example, if you are wearing a brown belt, you can wear it with black, red or leopard print shoes. A red dress, brown belt and leopard print shoes would work well together. Style is all about mixing it up. Your outfit doesn’t always need to go together and match perfectly. Your outfit just has to “go” together. Try mixing up your belt and shoes the next time you put an outfit together.
