From the time I can remember, I have paid attention to style. As a young teen growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, I watched Fashion Television almost every Saturday morning. I wanted to be a part of the fashion world (and benefit from the 50% discounts of course) so I chose to work in retail when I was 17-years-old. As you can guess, most of my pay cheques were spent on clothes and more clothes—my Mom, who is my style role model, can agree with that.
After six years in the retail business, I decided to go to university and get a degree in Professional Writing and Communications. But I still worked in retail part-time. Now, I work as a writer and editor in marketing, but my true passion is writing about style and fashion.
One of the reasons why I love style is because it’s so much fun, even in -30°C weather. Getting dressed in the morning is my favourite part of the day. I love adding pops of colour, fun patterns and “bling” to my outfits. If I look good, I feel even better.
I hope that Simmons on Style inspires you to find your own personal style, teaches you things about style that you’ve always wanted to know and encourages you to have fun while you’re at it. I want all women to be able to step out of their comfort zone and try new things. You don’t need a ton of money to buy designer clothes or a body that squeezes into a size 2. Who wants to be that small anyways? Where would you put all the wine, pasta and chocolate?
Thank you for reading and following Simmons on Style! I am so happy that I get to share my blog with you.
Keep looking good and having fun!
