Shopping Habits

Style Confessions

Should you buy a top or skirt when you have nothing to wear it with?

We all know that this issue is not only limited to a top or a skirt. It could be basically anything. So, what do you do when you see something in a store that you absolutely love, but you can’t think of a thing to wear it with? What I usually do when I go shopping and I see something I like, I mentally catalogue what’s in my wardrobe and “take out” the things I can wear it with. If I can’t “see” anything that I can wear it with, I don’t buy it. Why? Because I am less likely to wear it, it will just sit there in my closet with nowhere to go. Choosing items simply because you “like them” is probably not the best idea. If you want the best bang for your buck and the most wear out of your clothes, choose carefully when you go shopping.

Shopping for Good Deals

Style Confessions: Shopping for Good Deals

Do you spend time shopping for good deals?

Shopping for good deals is very important to me because I absolutely love finding the best prices, and pretty much everything I buy is on sale. I feel proud when I’m able to find something for less than what most stores are selling the item for. Shopping for the best deals does take some patience and time, of course. Usually, what I try to do is search online for the item first and compare the prices on a few websites. I also look out for upcoming sales as well. Another smart thing to do is compare prices in-store and online. To save even more precious time, call the store first and see how much they are selling the item for in comparison to the online price. Some of the time, the online price will be cheaper than in-store. But be mindful of the shipping costs, if any. And, in some cases, stores will match the online price.

Change Your Clothes, Change Your Life

Style Confessions: Change Your Clothes, Change Your Life

Can clothes change who you are?

Most definitely! Change your clothes, change your life. It really is as simple as it sounds. When you dress confidently and stylishly, you begin to exude that confidence through all facets and areas of your life. And that confidence encourages you to do and try things that you wouldn’t have ever done or thought about before. That one thing can open a lot of doors that would have remained closed otherwise. If you want to begin making positive changes in your life, start with your wardrobe. Are you proud of what you have in your wardrobe? Does your clothing make you feel good? Confident? If the answer is “no” to all of those questions, start by removing the items in your wardrobe that you don’t like, wear, or need. Those are most likely the items that are holding you back from achieving the things that you desire in life. Once you have removed those items, go shopping. Take a friend for moral support and choose clothing that makes you feel strong and empowered. Of course, the change won’t happen overnight. It might take weeks or even months to see a change in your attitude and perspective, but I do believe that small changes in your wardrobe can lead to big changes in your life. Remember, you deserve it.

Favourite Item to Shop For

Style Confessions

What is your favourite item to shop for?

Dresses are my favourite item to shop for. Why dresses? Because they are my favourite thing to wear. And they are also the easiest thing for me to shop for and to wear. With a dress, you don’t have to think too hard about what to wear with it. All you have to do is throw it on and go! And it’s not that difficult to find dresses throughout all of the seasons, and dresses are so incredibly versatile. If you choose the right dress, you can wear it all year long with a variety of different accessories and shoes. Plus, dresses can be fairly inexpensive depending on where you buy them and when.

Going Shopping Alone

Going Shopping Alone

How do you feel about going shopping alone?

What I like best about going shopping alone is that I can go at my own pace, go to the stores of my choice and mull over my decision to buy something for as long as I please. But I also like going shopping with my girlfriend (you know who you are). Just one. If you go shopping with more than one girlfriend, it gets too complicated. I like having someone to make my shopping decision with and to offer their honest opinion. And it’s fun to shop with someone else because you can do lunch or go for dinner afterwards after burning all of those calories walking around. It can also depend on what type of mood you’re in. If I’m feeling anti-social, I go shopping alone rather than make it a social event.
